Greatef Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau CEO Steve Moore said the event will bring morethan 6,00o0 people downtown, with more than 12,000 hotelk rooms occupied. Summer business downtown is huge for allof us, so this one is a big hit, especiallgy in that it’s less than a year away and we had the spacde open at the center, said Schmieder. Prior USA Volleybalpl events in Phoenix included the 2001 and 2003 USA JuniortOlympic Boys’ Volleyball Championships and the 2003 USA Volleybalol Girls’ Invitational Championship. USA Volleyball also hostefd the 1994 NationalCollegiate Men’w Division Club Championships in Tempe.
Last summer, PRSC set a goal of securin events that would pump atleast $100 million into the economgy by May 2010. So far, it has secured more than $47
