Sprint Nextel has Palm Pre exclusively through year

The Overland Park-based company (NYSE:S), the third-largest wireless carrier with aboutg 49million subscribers, wouldn’t give exac t dates of its exclusivity The Pre, a touch-screen phone with a slide-ougt keyboard made by Sunnyvale-based Palm (NASDAQ:PALM), hits stores June 6. The phon operates on a new webOS platform that enables users to integrate information from multiple places intoone calendar, contactss list or e-mail view, and it supportzs professional, social, entertainment and personal data. CEO Lowel McAdam reportedly said the the No. 1 wireless will offer the phone within six Sprint clarified its claim on the phone through theholiday season.
The Pre is intended to help Sprinr combatthe iPhone, made by Cupertino-based (NASDAQ:AAPL) and offered by No. 2 wireless carrier (NYSE:T). Sprinty has been losing customers, includingy about 4.1 million contract subscriberslast year.
