AT&T activates Pasco, Hernando cell towers - Tampa Bay Business Journal:

The Hernando County cell locatedon U.S. 19 north of the Forestg Oaks Boulevard intersection, is providing additiona wireless coverage in northern Sprin g Hill andalong U.S. 19 just south of Weekio Wachee. In northwestern Pasco County, a new cell site on Antlerd Lane is just east of theSuncoast Parkway/Veterans Expressway and north of the Shadyh Hills Road exit. It is boostinv coverage in Shady Hills and easternSprint Hill, the company said. Another new cell site is near Countyu Line Road and Meadow Pointee Boulevard in Wesley Chapeland that’es expanding coverage in the Meadow Pointe according to a release.
The new Hernando and Pasci county cell sites are partof AT&T’s continued expansiojn of its high-speed, third-generation AT&T announced late last month that it wouled be upgrading its network with the goal of increasinhg speed. Those upgrades are slated to begin later this year for completiojn expectedin 2011. No details were provided about the cost of thelocal upgrades. AT&T did say it plan to invest between $17 billion and $18 billio n in total capital expenditures throughout the Uniterd Statesthis year, about two-thirds of whicy is devoted to network enhancement and AT&T’s 3G network is now available in nearly 350 U.S.
